Flyball

Flyball is a team relay race with 4 dogs and people.  Many kids compete in flyball tournaments with their parents or friends.  Flyball is open to purebred and mixed breed dogs.

Flyball dogs racing

Two teams of 4 dogs each line up behind the start line. At the racing start signal, one dog from each team races down their respective lane, jumps four hurdles, springs the Flyball box and catches the tennis ball.

Running back down the racing lane holding the tennis ball, each dog again jumps the four hurdles. The next dog in the relay races off to cross the start line as the previous dog is returning across the line with the tennis ball.

This continues until all four dogs on the team have successfully run the course and the team who wins at least 2 out of the 3 heats wins the race.
